Breaking news: Cristiano Ronaldo leaves Man Utd boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer disappointed after new decision
Cristiano Ronaldo plays under Ole Gunnar
Solskjaer at Manchester United.
Cristiano Ronaldo is set to disappoint
Manchester United boss ole Gunnar solkjaer
by refusing to retire from international football,
reports say. The Portugal international has made
183 appearances for his country, netting 115
times in the process. But he’s showing no signs
of slowing down, despite turning 37 in
February.
United signed Ronaldo during the summer
transfer window, beating Manchester City
to the veteran’s signature.
And the Portugal international hasn’t
disappointed so far, netting nine times from
13 outings so far.
Ronaldo is also still going strong when
it comes to playing for his country, with the
36-year-old refusing to hang up his international
boots.
And the Daily Star say Ronaldo is now
primed to disappoint Solskjaer by refusing
to call it quits.
It’s claimed by the publication that United
are resigned to Ronaldo playing on with Portugal
after next year’s World Cup in Qatar.
Despite his exploits, he’s still yet to win arguably
the biggest trophy of them all.
And Ronaldo has ‘no intention’ of quitting
the world stage as he targets yet more
silverware.
He also wants to become the first player
to earn 200 international caps, with Portugal in
pole position to reach Qatar.
United and Solskjaer had been hoping
the forward would consider retiring from
international football to focus on his club career.
Yet the former Juventus and Real Madrid star
has other ideas and wants to continue to write
his name into the history books.
Meanwhile, Ronaldo gave his shirt to a young
fan who stormed the pitch during Portugal’s recent
draw with the Republic of Ireland.
And the young girl in question has told The
Sun of how the act materialised.
She said: “Ronaldo turned around and saw
me and told them (security) to leave me, he came
over to me.
“I was shaking and crying.
“I asked him ‘can I have your jersey please,
I’m a huge huge fan?’ And he said ‘okay’.
“When my Dad saw him taking off the shirt his
face was in shock. I was thinking ‘Oh my god,
this is my dream and it’s finally coming true’.
“That’s amazing news, it is so great. There
was talk about me getting fined and my dad would
have to pay it. Thankfully we don’t have to worry
about that now.
“I wouldn’t have sold the shirt for the world! I
wouldn’t have sold it in a million years! I’m going
to get it framed and it’s going to go on my wall.
I won’t be letting it out of my sight.”
And her father added: “The interest has been
immense. The phone hasn’t stopped all day. Addison
is like a celebrity now!”
“She is absolutely over the moon, she won’t
let it leave her sight.
“She pulled some moves to get to him. She is
quick for sure. She is playing great for
Shelbourne. Addison is a striker. She is only
11 so she is playing for the Under-13s.
“She actually played with the Under-14s last
week and scored a cracking goal from outside
the box. She is well known in the club. Shelbourne
want her to bring the shirt to the club and show
it off. She deserves all the attention, she works
hard.
